Professional Profile
Dr Stephen Lewis is a full-time sports physician and is currently the Club Doctor for Chelsea Football Club’s Men’s Team and Chief Medical Officer for Sussex Cricket.
He completed his Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2004 after originally training as an orthopaedic surgeon. He has worked in elite sport since 2002 including eight years in international rugby as Head of Medicine for the England Women’s rugby team; eleven years in the premier league as club doctor for Fulham Football Club; and six years at Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. He has also held posts covering Masters Tennis, clinics at the English Institute of Sport, Soccer Aid, and several years working in Rehabilitation Medicine for the Armed Forces.
He has expertise in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems, recurrent injuries and patients with conditions proving difficult to diagnose. He advises patients on recovery and injury prevention strategies.
